One of the worst horror movies I have watched in a long time, but amazingly entertaining
for that very reason...

"Death before dishonour, motherfucker!" - Army Mail Clerk
Directed by John Carl Buechler (Friday the 13th Part VII) I had reasonably high hopes for this movie. Now lets face it, the New Blood is hardly Oscar material, but in comparsion well...
I should have known better.
It was absolutely terrible. Infact it was so bad that it was extremely entertaining. The cheese was overwhelming. I was officially in stiches, perhaps knots of laughter. It got to the stage where I could bearly breathe properly, you know what I mean.
Critically speaking, some of the direction was terrible. Much of the camera work revealing the puny size of the production with some unnecessary (and bad) dialogue in the script to boot. The done to death "hillbilly" formula in cheap horror productions itself wasn't even nailed with one character in particular (Eve) looking like she just came off a fashion walk. My friend, who sat in on this screening, agreed that her hair, teeth and eyebrows were all in perfect condition. It was something to behold.
Surprising it was to see Karen "House of 1000 Corpses" Black appear in this movie and also Martin "John Kreese Cobra Kai Sensei" Kove as a sex mad hillbilly with token model girlfriend. He licked her face in his brief appearance. Immense, in a word.
The story? Well, legend has it that the "Forty Niner", Jeremiah Stone (player by Vernon Wells), has
a mine full of gold and riches. And if his treasure is ever taken his curse will become reality. Suffice to say a bunch of "kids" find his gold and bring back the murdering son of a bitch and he won't stop until he has got all his gold back and kills those who stole it from him...
Throw in a ridiculous hair cut, which I hope was a sentimental throw back to the 1980s, some great shitting sound effects, expert pick axe handling, several fire stunts, and a hilarious musical score and you have a laugh a minute 80's slasher movie in the 21st century. Something you don't see everyday I'm sure you will agree.
Watch it, you'll see what I mean...
