Just like the House of Wax remake should have been called House of WHACK! the latest entry in the undying Crow series should have been titled The Crow: Wicked Crap. The film is hardly worth a review, but serves as more of a warning to totally avoid this film at all costs. After it was over, my little brother said, "Now I have to go watch the original again to burn this garbage from my memory," and that’s the damn truth.

Wicked Prayer follows Luc Crash, the charismatic gang leader of a ragtag band of Satanist bikers named after the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse. Luc murders Jimmy Cuervo (Edward Furlong) and his girlfriend Lily as part of a ritual to become an immortal demon, but Luc finds that Jimmy has been transformed into the avenging spirit known at The Crow, intent on stopping Luc before he can become the Lord of the Flies.

Let's just say the film starts off promising and got my hopes up slightly, but it falls flat after the opening credits are done, and Mungia starts trying to be Tarantino/Rodriguez with his slick intros. I was also skeptical of Edward Furlong being cast in such a role. Playing the Crow requires a lot of prowess as an actor and demands an intimidating physical presence. Furlong did not pull it off; in fact, he looked like a child playing dress-up on Halloween. It was truly pathetic. That is what truly ruined the film for me, and did I mention Tara Reid was in this? I really hate Tara Reid--her flat hips, raspy voice, and bad boob job--but this drove the nail in the coffin and right through my skull. She is really a terrible actress and how the hell she gets work is beyond me. The only saving grace in the film is Luc (David Boreanaz) Crash. He is witty, funny, and plays a damn good bad guy. Not to mention, he would have been a great Crow! What the hell was Lance Mungia thinking? Oh, and why the hell does Furlong belt out the line, "Quoth the Raven: Nevermore, motherfucker?" This ain’t Poe, it’s The Crow!

The DVD does feature a decent 5.1 surround sound mix. The picture is nice, and there are some decent special features such as deleted scenes, making of, commentary etc… Just do yourself a big favor and catch this on cable or something. You will be kicking yourself in the ass like I did after shelling out the $4.99 rental fee. It’s a shame that a series with such potential has spiraled into such nothingness. No wonder this film was shelved for so long. Funny thing is, the best part of this DVD is the Hellraiser: Hellworld and Sin City trailers.

I am going to go cry now.
