FANGORIA ... BURBANK... THIS FRIDAY... (2nd June)
Your favourite webmaster, John Gray, will be in attendance and he will be joined by several other members from the forums over the entire event. They should
be easy to spot in their PIT OF HORROR and GUTS AND GORY shirts. Moreover, there will be a strong contingent of
GUTS AND GORY forum hosts present with William Butler, Stu Charno, Andrew Bryniarski, Felissa Rose, Debbie Rochon, Tony Todd, Michael Bailey Smith and also the SIN-JIN SMYTH crew, the HATCHET crew, the FURNACE crew and -as far as I know- Ryan Schifrin (director of Abominable) scheduled to appear. In short, this will be the biggest convention yet for Guts and Gory. It cannot be missed! Check out the FANGORIA website for details about the event.

DON'T ASSUME YOU'RE ALL ALONE IN THE 'DARK WOODS'!
Camp Vernon, quiet, peaceful, away from things. The perfect summer getaway. At least it once was, a long time ago For over two decades, after a series of unsolved murders, the camp has been shuttered. Now, the new owner is trying to get the place in shape for re-opening, with the aid of several counselors. A lonely cook pining for her lost love and lost son, two young lovers, a jealous friend, a starry eyed vixen, a free-spirited mistress....and among them a dark hidden past, waiting to be unleashed. All the while, someone lurks in the shadows, stalking them at every turn. Which of them will make it through the night, and make it out alive from the Dark Woods? Click the image to your right for more info.
Our very own Royce Freeman, who has contributed many interviews to Pit Of Horror and who once operated the now-legendary website "The Voorhees House," co-scripted Dark Woods with Timothy Whitfield. California native Jake Daniels directed this independent homage to early 80's slasher films, which includes several nods to the original Friday The 13th. You will be able to buy Dark Woods on May 30, 2006 at Best Buy or anywhere DVDs are sold.

Many thanks to Royce Freeman for the heads-up, and hearty congratulations for his commercial debut!
REVIEWS FOR 'X-MEN: THE LAST STAND' AND 'SEE NO EVIL' NOW UP!
Wolverine, Storm, Magneto and all your favorite mutants are back for the third and final go-around in the X-Men theatrical cycle. Directed by Brett Ratner (Red Dragon) and featuring several new additions to the entourage, this entry into the marauding franchise looks to bring the circle to a fitting close. With a collective domestic gross of over $372 million from its two predecessors, high expectations are in order for X-Men: The Last Stand. Click the graphic to your left to read John Gray's assessment of the film, which he recently caught at a sneak-peek showing.
Speaking of sneak-peeks, the Pit recently hosted an advance screening of Gregory Dark's See No Evil in Dallas, which John was instrumental in arranging. Kindly click the graphic to your right to see what our maverick webmaster/PR expert thought of the final product, in which a group of delinquent youngsters are required to clean an abandoned old hotel scheduled for renovation--not knowing that the murderous Jacob Goodnight (WWE superstar Kane) secretly resides within the walls and is ready to wreak terror and bloodletting.
GET READY FOR A 'DESCENT' INTO UNPARALLELED TERROR!
Lions Gate has gotten behind Neil Marshall, the auteur behind 2002's Dog Soldiers, and slated his excellent horror feature The Descent for an August theatrical release in the U.S. In it, an all-female group of spelunkers attempt to explore a mysterious cave within the Appalachian mountains, unaware of the horrors that will batten upon them. Shauna MacDonald heads the cast, with appearances by Natalie Mendoza, Alex Reid, Saskia Mulder and Nora-Jane Noone. The promo poster looks pretty kick-assed as well.

It is important to note that writer/director Marshall won the Best Director and Best Technical Achievement awards at the recent British Independent Film Awards (BIFA) for this picture. We'll keep you posted here once the late summer release date is confirmed. Click on the above poster graphic to visit the official site. And many thanks to Jessica Cheung from Special Ops Media for the information.
AN 'OMEN' OF WHAT'S TO COME--IF YOU'RE A DALLAS RESIDENT!
John Gray has done it again, arranging a sneak-peak screening of The Omen in Dallas on Thursday, June 1st. The highly-anticipated remake of the 1976 classic is the terrifying tale of an American politican (Liev Schreiber) who secretly accepts a changeling baby when his own son supposedly dies in childbirth. With even his own wife oblivious to this well-intentioned deception, the two raise young Damien as their own until the diabolical forces responsible for his birth begin to manifest themselves. The film opens wide on June 6th.

If you live in the Dallas area and would like to attend the 7:30 p.m. screening, just click the above image for more information, including logistics and instructions. Just like the beer at Delta House, "it don't cost nuthin'." So take advantage and enjoy another free flick on the Pit. Many thanks also to Roderick Stoker of Moroch Entertainment, who was instrumental in helping to put this event together.

DALLAS RESIDENTS: SEE SOME 'EVIL' ON MAY 18TH--ON OUR DIME!
The Pit is in talks with the promoters of the upcoming See No Evil, which opens wide on May 19, to host a free advance screening in a selected Dallas theatre on the preceding evening. So what's it all about, Alfie? Try this on for size: Seven feet tall. Four hundred pounds. A rusty steel plate screwed into his skull and razor-sharp fingernails that pluck out his victimsı eyes. Reclusive psychopath Jacob Goodnight is holed up in the long-abandoned and rotting Blackwell Hotel, alone with his nightmares until eight petty criminals show up for community service duty along with the cop who put a bullet in Jacobıs head four years ago. When one of their own is kidnapped by the killer and her fate uncertain, the remaining lawbreakers must fight this destructible force of nature with a violent score to settle. See No Evil stars World Wrestling Entertainment superstar Kane. The movie was directed by Gregory Dark. See the official site here.
Wow, tantalizing info, no? Once we get confirmation on the Dallas theatre and showtime for which we'll be authorized to issue 150 tickets (each good for two guests--that's 300 seats, folks!), you'll read all about it here. In the meantime, keep checking the Hub. Soon as it's firmed up, we'll get it posted!
