Pit of Horror at Haunt Con, Texas, 2005

Your friendly webmaster John Gray attended the recent Haunt Con in Texas representing our beloved sites, Pit of Horror and Guts and Gory. A whole barrage of pictures were taken as the Pit shared a table alongside Kane Hodder, Bill Mosely and Reggie Bannister among many other big names in our beloved genre...

John speaks...
"The Pit will also be featured in a documentary on Haunted House attractions, that will be featured on the IFC channel. I gave them a good five minute interview on The Pit of Horror and GAG. I touted WE are the ONLY Haunted House that you can visit all year round. They also got shots of the Pit table, Pit & GAG flyers, and the Pit shirts, complete with the 'Long live the Pit' slogans. Kane Hodder also requested two Pit shirts... one for him and his girl."

Can you feel the tension? New preview/review...

Haute Tension (2003)
American theatrical release- High Tension (June 2005)

"The story starts off with two female students (Marie and Alex) heading to Alex's parents farm house in the country for a weekend holiday. While riding in the back of the car, Marie awakes from a terrible dream. Terrified she tells her dream to Alex only to be questioned as to why she can't have normal dreams like everyone else. Marie explains to her friend that being normal wouldn't be any fun.

Once they arrive at Alex's parents house, things quickly evolve from a peaceful setting into something extremely macabre. That night, after settling in, they are all disturbed from sleep by a visitor only to find themselves in a living nightmare. Hell has stepped upon the doorsteps of the farmhouse.

Alex is gagged and kidnapped with Marie alluding the intruder. Can she save her friend's life in time? Or is everything all that it seems...

This is truly one of the best psychological horror movies I have ever seen. Audiences seem to split into two groups (love/hate). One thing is guaranteed... you will love or hate this film with a passion. What it gives you is laid out on the screen right before your eyes. There are no tricks, it is straight forward but this movie proves that we don't always see what is right in front of us." DISCUSS

Risen Wraps Production

"WACO, Texas, April 21, 2005 – Frame By Frame and Red Trac Productions, in association with Jackalope Entertainment, today announced the completion of filming for their newest picture entitled Risen. The film’s synopsis features a couple in the fight to save their young daughter in a city of the undead. The tagline reads ‘When the dead have risen, some things are more important than survival.’

Risen was filmed at various locations in Waco, Bellmead, Woodway, Lacy Lakeview and Hewitt Texas, including the Bellmead Civic Center, Bonner's Bellmead Speedway, IGA Grocery, Fast Time Gas Station, and other locations. Casting for Risen consists of GiGi Erneta, Joseph Thackery, Jason Harper, and Steven Lee. Besides a talented cast, the film has several other noticeable advantages to other horror films. The film is shot in HD on the Sony CineAlta HD 900 and will be color treated, scored, audio sweetened, and mastered in High Definition (1080/48i) in its post-production phase. “We’ll have a trailer out by the end of May or early April that will knock your socks off.” commented Director Damon Crump..." *Attention Euro-trash gore hounds*

This tidbit landed in our lap courtesy of Leeda...

Joe D'Amato's hard-to-find gorefest, Antropophagus/Man Eater/Grim Reaper, is available in a limited, special edition 2-disc set in Region 2 format through www.diabolikdvd.com! (Search under 'Man Eater')

Synopsis from Diabolikdvd: ANTHROPOPHAGUS (THE GRIM REAPER) - Never mind the crap U.S. edition (released as THE GRIM REAPER). This European release is the must own release of the 1981 Joe D'Amato gore film. That lumbering oaf George Eastman plays a flesh-hungry cannibal on the same island upon which most of D'Amato's other films are set. When Tisa Farrow (Mia's sister and the star of Fulci's ZOMBIE) and some other Americans come for a visit they soon find themselves on the menu. The film's highlight must be when the crusty creep is stabbed and finds himself eating his own intestines as they come spilling out of his belly. This film features one of the worst electronic scores ever committed to celluloid. A totally essential must-own disc.

Our Pitter's are discussing the new Amityville movie...

Apparently it is mostly "alright" and has, what some might call, a dubious plot tweak. That said, apparently it has some really great moments. Check out the link below for more in depth thoughts and remember, there could be major spoilers!
