the ranks at GUTS AND GORY. Making it a truly bodacious experience and a kind of ...uhh... all-year-online-cyber-horror-convention!

FANGORIA’s new corporate owner, The Creative Group,
will also have a presence at the show and offer
previews of the upcoming FangoriaTV programming slate.
"We are thrilled to be back in business with
Creation," says Jacobs. "They have been a valuable
partner of ours for over 20 years. When it comes to
conventions, nobody does it better than our friends at
Creation. They have been professionally doing shows
for 34 years and know what the fans want because they
are fans themselves. We are excited about bringing
back the Weekend of Horrors to LA bigger and better
than ever before."

Jacobs and the staff of FANGORIA once again," says
Creation co-chief Malin. "They are simply the leader
in the coverage of horror media and a formidable brand
themselves in terms of horror-genre filmed content. As
co-producer of the FANGORIA Weekend of Horrors live
events, we are committed to bringing excellence to the
fan-convention arena where Fango’s most dedicated
audience lies."
"We can’t wait to get started on the show," says
Timpone, who will be sharing emcee duties with Malin.
"The fans have been screaming for us to come back to
LA, but we’ve held out until we could put together a

Angela is back:
Well sorta... Fango pal Felissa (SLEEPAWAY CAMP) Rose
(pictured) just let Fango know about a new horror
movie she’s about to start shooting in the Los Angeles
area. Titled SLUDGE! and written/directed by S. Lee
(DETOUR) Taylor, it’s about a group of college geology
students terrorized in the woods by a slime monster,
and co-stars busy genre actress Tiffany (ABOMINABLE)
Shepis. "I’ve been wanting to work with Tiffany for a
while," Rose tells us, "so Steve Taylor was kind
enough to write a scene for us. We had a rehearsal the
other day, and the cast is really solid. It’s a fun
script with a kick-ass monster." The movie will be
shot on HDV by Zach Richards, who handled the 2nd-unit
footage on the Asylum features BLOODY BILL and the
upcoming EL INTERMEDIO; another Asylum veteran,
Richard Miranda, is wrangling the onscreen gore. The
monster is created by The Cannibalistic Gargoyle, who
did FX for DETOUR.

2 Hellraiser sequels this year:
Inspired by the announcement yesterday of a video
release date for THE CROW: WICKED PRAYER, a fan
contacted Dread Central to report that Amazon has
listed debut dates for Dimension’s long-on-the-shelf
pair of HELLRAISER sequels. Inspired by that, Fango
explored Amazon further and came up with a whole
schedule for the company’s horror sequel slate. Here’s
how the lineup looks as of now:
• HELLRAISER: DEADER (pictured): June 7
• PROPHECY: UPRISING: June 7
• DRACULA III: LEGACY: July 12
• HELLRAISER: HELLWORLD: September 6
• PROPHECY: FORSAKEN: September 6
Dimension, evidently clearing house in anticipation of
its separation from Disney, still hasn’t assigned
dates for such long-in-limbo non-sequel genre films as
AFTERIMAGE and THE GATHERING. Perhaps when they
schedule CURSED for video, they can put that out in a
Christina Ricci boxed set with GATHERING and another
long-shelved Ricci vehicle, PROZAC NATION.

Hannibal bites back:
Moviehole reports Actress Gong Li has been cast in the
"Red Dragon" prequel "The Lecter Variation", which
takes a snapshot of flesh-wearing Hannibal the
Canniabl in his younger years.
Li, soon to be seen in "Memoirs of a Geisha", was
handpicked by Director Peter Webber to star in the
film.
The roles of Hannibal - at various ages - and his
sister Mischa Lecter are currently being cast.
It's believed Anthony Hopkins is in talks to either
narrate or make an appearance - as the older
'Hannibal' - in the flick.
"Variation", which will centre on Lecter's childhood
in Lithuania through a period in Paris to his arrival
in the US, will be produced by Dino De Laurentiis, and
starts filming in May.

Bill Moseley's latest:
Fangoria says if you liked Bill Moseley in TEXAS
CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2 and HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES, you’ll
want to pick up his band Cornbugs’ newest CD, DONKEY
TOWN. In the vein of Tenacious D, the former Chop-Top
writes and sings humerous lyrics fit to slop the pigs
on a farm by…then slaughter them. Don’t be eating BBQ
when listening to the "Farm to Fork" track; this
listener definitely skipped lunch that day. Buckethead
rocks out on guitar while Pinchface bangs on the
pigskins, and the CDs come autographed by Moseley.
Very weird, very hillbilly, 100 percent animal
husbandry. "Eat meat" at www.cornbugs.com.

Rambo 4 & Rocky 6:
While it NOT horror... everyone loves Rambo and Rocky
right? Well, if you do... you will be pleased to know
that Moviehole reports it could be - depending on the
success of his new reality series, "The Contender" -
Sylvester Stallone's big comeback year. If the show
doesn't take off, we predict a DTV "Rhinestone 2" in
his future.
First, here's the net's biggest Balboa/Oak fan, 'AB
King' with the latest on sequels five and three to
"Rocky" and "Rambo" respectively.
"In the UK, "NOW Magazine" a good Hollywood source,
says that Stallone's Rocky 6 will 100% certainly be
made providing The Contender does not bomb totaly. It
said with Stallone's passion to do another and with
the completed script , sony and MGM now with different
control are the most likely to distribute. Both
companies feel that although this will be a 6th movie
they are impressed with Stallone's script and vision
and that the movie can be made on a budget of $20m. It
then said that fans will see a very different Rocky
compared to previous films with a more gritty feel
like raging bull with the emphasis on realism and
characterisation not the comic book action seen in
previous. Insiders say people will be shocked at just
how dark and real "touching modern issues" the script
is. And that it could be filmed with a shaky camera
style like The Bourne Supremacy and the Shield. It
then said that the script for Rambo 4 is completed and
Stallone wanting to make it but finding a studio to
cough up millons of dollars to make and market it will
be difficult as Stallone has not had a big budget hit
since 1993 Cliffhanger".
"Rambo 4" without a studio? Let's check in with a
studio insider on that.
OK, Here's our answer. Nope, seems Miramax/Dimension
still captains the "Rambo" ship, and - this is good
news - they're in talks with writers at the moment
actually.
The rest, especially the "Rocky 6" bit being budgeted
at $20 million sounds pretty much on-the-money.
Apparently it's going to be a return to the Indy-esque
feel of the original.
The Crow 4 arrives:
Dimension Home Video has finally settled on a release
date for THE CROW: WICKED PRAYER, the fourth in the
series spawned by the hit Brandon Lee-starrer. The
movie arrives on VHS and DVD July 19; the disc will
retail for $29.99, but no details about supplements
have been announced yet. WICKED PRAYER stars Edward
Furlong as the latest resurrectee, who takes on the
mantle of The Crow after he and his girlfriend (WRONG
TURN’s Emmanuelle Chriqui) are murdered by a gang of
Satanist bikers led by Luc Crash (ANGEL’s David
Boreanaz). Tara Reid and Dennis Hopper co-star; Lance
(SIX STRING SAMURAI) Mungia directed from a script he
wrote with Jeff Most and Sean Hood.

The Hills Have Eyes remake nemake:
Fangoria breaks down the new family in the remake...
Here’s how those "horrors" are described:
RUBY: The youngest of the hill people, 14 years old
(but 18+ or emancipated preferred). Very small—five
feet tall, frail, but rather pretty despite her
abnormally large eyes and deformed hands. She wears a
hooded sweatshirt, preventing us from seeing the part
of her skull that is permanently caved in. Ruby is
intrigued by this "normal" family—particularly Bobby,
who is the first boy her own age she has ever met
before. She is the only one of the hill people with a
sense of right and wrong—she tries to help the family
and protect Catherine, the baby.
PAPA JUPE (JUPITER): The leader of the mutant hill
people, around 50 years old, his voice is deep,
distorted and devilish; he has long hair and a beard,
and evil eyes. He is the most menacing and violent of
the hill people.
BIG BRAIN: One of the hill people, confined to a
wheelchair. His head is 10 times bigger than his
face—his head is so heavy that he is unable to hold it
up, it rests back on his chair. His body is skeletal,
his voice is weak and asthmatic. He is the character
most representative of the damage the hill people have
suffered from the nuclear fallout. He tells Doug of
the fate of the hill people, of the disregard the
government showed for their plight.
LIZARD: One of the mutant hill people, so named both
because of his almost supernatural agility and because
of the spiky chain he uses to provoke car accidents
(when not is use, it drags behind him like a lizard
tail). Extremely thin, and pale, with a cleft lip and
a deformed jaw. He is, quite simply, a savage with no
sense of pity. Scary and sadistic.
PLUTO: A giant, one of the hill people, bald, hulking
and terrifying, but with the face of a cruel child,
with asymmetrical eyes. And there is something
childlike and dim about him, despite his huge size.
And yet he is capable of terrible violence.
GOGGLE: One of the mutant hill people, so named
because he keeps watch on the desert through a pair of
binoculars. He has no face—his eyes, nostrils, and
mouth exist in a mass of flesh. His voice is rough and
deep, his pronunciation is poor and we can’t
understand everything he says.
LARGE WOMAN/THE OBESE WOMAN: One of the hill people,
Ruby’s mother. As her name suggests, should be very
overweight. She also takes care of the handicapped Big
Brain. She sits in a rocking chair, holding a huge pig
in her arms and petting it like a dog.
CYST: One of the mutant hill people. Enormous cysts
disfigure him and cover every part of his body; a
metallic brace is screwed on four sides of his head
helping him stand straight. No dialogue—his character
is mute—but much on-camera time.
Good to see they’re bringing Papa Jupiter, Pluto and
Ruby back… We’ll have more updates on the new HILLS
soon.

Risen:
Texas-based Ad-Hoc Film Co-op has announced the cast,
director and other crew for its zombie movie RISEN,
which we first reported on here. Damon Crump, who
produced the feature SHADES OF GREY and has worked on
other TX-based features and hundreds of
commercials/corporate videos, will helm the story
(scripted by David Talbot) of a couple who become
separated from their young daughter as an undead
apocalypse breaks out and battle their way through the
ghouls to save her. Gigi Erneta and Joseph Thackery
play the heroic mom and dad, with Jason Harper and
Steven Lee co-starring. Makeup FX will be created by,
appropriately enough, the ZombiEFX team of J.P.
Pettersen and Craig W. Hecht, whose credits include
DIRECTOR’S CUT: A KILLER COMEDY, AQUANOIDS, DEATH BY
ENGAGEMENT and other indie chillers. Described as "a
zombie movie by zombie fans for zombie fans," RISEN
will roll in March; go to the official website for
