'SLAYER: UNHOLY ALLIANCE TOUR' ROCKS DALLAS!

Heavy metal giants Slayer recently hit the Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie, TX (in the Dallas) area this past weekend, with supporting acts Lamb Of God, Children Of Bodom, Mastodon and Thine Eyes Bleed. It's all part of their Unholy Alliance Tour, designed to become an annual event showcasing the best in beastly metal, and our friend Justin Press caught the Dallas gig. Read his review here.

For tourdates or more information on the Unholy Alliance Tour, check out Slayer's MySpace page. Many thanks to Justin!

SO, WHAT ARE YOU DOING FRIDAY NIGHTS, DALLAS RESIDENTS ???

Join the Pit for FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS! Pit Of Horror, in conjunction with Dallas Music Guide and Movie Tavern, proudly presents Friday Night Frights, a monthly late-night presentation of classic Pit-style horror flicks presented in all their gory--er, glory--on the big screen every second Friday of the month. It all takes place at the Movie Tavern in Denton, a suburb within the Dallas area, and the first one is kicking off on Friday, July 14th, with a special guest star to host the screening. And be advised, this is slated to be the first of many showings: Midnight horror flicks from many of the sub-genres that range from blockbusters to the obscure. From Freddy and Jason to Italian gorefests to cult classics, there will be something for everyone from the casual, curious moviegoer to the horror fanatic. The catch is that every showing will be a special presentation of the films that will either be in 3-D, from a print not available on DVD or a special guest will appear (usually a director or actor from the film).

Lar Park Lincoln will host FRIDAY THE 13TH, PART VII And for our July 14th engagement, the lovely Lar Park Lincoln will be on-hand to introduce the fan favorite Friday The 13th, Part VII: The New Blood, historic because it was the first time perennial Jason actor Kane Hodder donned the hockey mask and brought Mrs. Voorhees' wayward offspring to life in a new, undead fashion. Ms. Lincoln, meanwhile, appeared as the reticently telekinetic young Tina, who must reluctantly utilize her untapped potential in order to put down the marauding mama's boy. So if you live in the Dallas area, you might want to pencil in July 14th on your calender (for a start) and also note that it's all happening at 916 West University Drive at the NW corner of University and Carroll within Denton. There's nothing else like this going on in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and the Movie Tavern is a great place to catch a late-night flick while you're eating or having a toddy, or both, along with an appreciative audience. So don't miss out!

For more information, email Paul Salfen, Kell Curtis or John Gray.

'JOB' OFFICIAL SITE LAUNCHES!

Click here for the official JOB website. The official JOB website has just launched! The site, still very much a work-in-progress, includes some concept art for John Gray's debut film, plus links to the official JOB message forum and a few other goodies.

Moreover, ever since The Horror Channel announced Job earlier in the week, followed by a follow-up piece with none other than Fangoria, it's been a whirlwind of expanding coverage across the online horror community. Of particular interest in many of these articles is the film's cast, which includes Lee Perkins (KatieBird: Certifiable Crazy Person) and may be supplemented with Bill Moseley (The Devil's Rejects) and Michael Pare (Eddie And The Cruisers).

Check out the following Job-related links:

Expect that list to grow. Life is good!

ROB ZOMBIE ANSWERS FAN QUESTIONS AT 'HALLOWEEN' OFFICIAL SITE!

Rob Zombie talks new HALLOWEEN. Writer/Director Rob Zombie, who was recently announced as helmer of the upcoming Halloween feature (to the near-unanimous delight of fans!), has participated in an interactive online interview session at the official Halloween site. Fans were asked to email their inquiries regarding the film, and selected entries were fielded and answered by the auteur himself.

Wondering what kind of mask the reinvented Michael Myers will don? Or how about the time frame of the tale? And then there's the music: Will John Carpenter's classic theme--that inimitable arpeggio in 4/5 time signature--be used, and will Zombie contribute music of his own to the score? It's all here, so be sure and check it out!

SNOOP DOGG TO DEBUT 'HOOD OF HORROR'!

Snoop Dogg presents HOOD OF HORROR. Snoop Dogg's Hood Of Horror kicks into high gear Friday, June 9th with the highly anticipated launch of its official site on MySpace.com. Film clips, photo galleries and fan blogs highlight the page which will also feature the latest breaking news and a complete listing of special events and screenings, beginning with the film’s first public showing at the LA FILM FEST Tuesday, June 27th.

Part comedy, part fright fest, Hood finds Snoop playing host to a trio of blood-soaked terror tales involving the residents of an inner city neighborhood whose actions in this life determine their destination in the next. Directed by Stacy Title (The Last Supper) from a script by Jacob Hair, Chris Kobin, Jonathan McHugh and 2001 Maniacs’ Tim Sullivan (who, along with McHugh, created and co-produced), this comic book influenced anthology boasts eye-popping anime-style sequences, plenty of goo and gore, an eclectic ensemble cast (Ernie Hudson, Danny Trejo, Method Man, Anson Mount, Brande Roderick, Lin Shaye, Diamond Dallas Page, Jason Alexander, Billy Dee Williams) and even a few down and dirty bootie breaks!

JOB - Official Press Release

JOB is coming.... The Production Team behind the upcoming horror film SIN-JIN SMYTH got locked and loaded at Fangoria's 'Weekend of Horrors' show in Los Angeles (06-06) and officially announced that SNAPKICK PRODUCTIONS INC. (An independent production outfit based on The Warner Hollywood Lot) and brothers John Gray and Spencer Gray are behind the much talked about film 'JOB' (as in the book of).

The film, based on a sinister plot involving the gruesome disappearance of several priests who run a remote summer camp for boys, (and designed in the spirit of Halloween and Friday the 13th), has already become the source of much debate and controversy among certain religious groups in the Los Angeles area.

Director/Co-writer John Gray was unavailable for comment, but did reveal (at last week's Fangoria Convention) that he refused to take the dark subject matter and make a more passive PG-13 version of the film just to avoid any heated controversy. Saying: 'We plan to keep this one dark, and true to form for the fans of the horror genre!'

The rest of the producing team includes Lota Hadley (SIN-JIN SMYTH), and Associate Producer/Editor Travis Dultz. (SIN-JIN SMYTH). Lee Perkins (Katiebird: Certifiable Crazy Person) has locked on officially, and the company is in talks with actors Michael (Furnace) Pare and Bill (The Devils Rejects) Moseley to star.

In the mean time, check out the official site www.faithkills.com for future updates. More news to follow...

MAY THE TRIALS OF 'JOB' LAND UPON A THEATRE NEAR YOU!

JOB is coming.... Horror Channel has a fresh report on the developing Job following some tantalizing tidbits from the recent Fangoria convention in Burbank. Johnny Butane offers the following report:

What is Job? Why is it so damn creepy looking? What kind of priest has a crown of thorns and wields a butcher knife?

Perhaps some of these questions will be answered soon, but here's all I know about Job (pronounced like the book of the Bible) as of now: It stars Bill Moseley (The Devil’s Rejects), Michael Pare (Bad Moon), and Lee Perkins (KatieBird: Certifiable Crazy Person). Apparently Pare made mention of it at the recent Weekend of Horrors so if anyone knows more....

Check out the teaser site for Job right here, and stay tuned for details as we get ‘em!

Sweet Lamb of God....this is an exciting time for the Pit. And you can bet the rent that we'll keep you posted up to date as more details about Job become available.

NEW 'HALLOWEEN' PICTURE TO BE HELMED BY....ROB ZOMBIE!

Rob Zombie to direct new HALLOWEEN! What an update! The word becomes flesh as the rumor becomes reality, and rocker Rob Zombie, whose current album Educated Horses is still active on the charts, follows up his cinematic efforts House Of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects with an unlikely but well-chosen project: the next Halloween film. The Official Website confirms this as well.

According to their report, Zombie's vision of this film is an entirely new take on the legend and will satisfy fans of the classic Halloween legacy while beginning a new chapter in the Michael Myers saga. This new movie will not only appeal to horror fans, but to a wider movie-going audience as well. It will not be a copycat of any prior films in the Halloween franchise. The film is set for an October 2007 theatrical release.

We are so onboard with this!
