GUTS AND GORY FORUM UNDERGOING MAINTENANCE....

Rich Carlin reports that due to a server failure, the Pit's Guts And Gory message forum has become temporarily inoperable. He is currently working with tech support to restore all data and member accounts to its previous state and, resultant of that, the forum should be back up and running within a day or two.

We thank all of our community members for their continued support and participation, and we appreciate their patience during this brief downtime.

UPDATE: It's fixed! Some users may need to re-submit their registration info (hey, we did our best to preserve as much as possible, but a few accounts were unrecoverable), so get on it and we'll get to it....G&G is back!

EXCLUSIVE 'SAW III' POSTER REVEALED!

Tidbits about the upcoming Saw III have circulated within the online horror community, but the Pit has a fresh look at the teaser poster design. And it'll make you think twice before scheduling another dental appointment. Just take a gander here:

Take a BITE outta crime!

From what's been gleaned from online reports, the storyline of Saw III involves a dying and bedridden Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) conducting a new campaign, assisted by accomplice Amanda (Shawnee Smith), as new characters are drawn into the the map of madness and twisted morality. Expect a showstopping twist ending, the makers assure us. We're there. Saw III opens wide on October 27.

Special thanks to Molly Mandell for the heads-up!

WIN A COPY OF 'FINAL DESTINATION 3' ON DVD!

Click here for the FINAL DESTINATION 3 Contest page. It's gettin' about time for another contest, no? Well, the Pit has got a goodie this time around: copies of the deluxe two-disc Final Destination 3 DVD, which is packed to the fat-assed gills with a plethora of special features. If you are interested in participating, just follow this link (or just click on the graphic to the left) and be prepared to answer three ridiculously non-challenging trivia questions. As always, you must be a participating member at Guts And Gory to be eligible. And as an added bonus, we will also be handing out a few copies at the August 11th Friday Night Frights engagement, so that's added incentive for you folks to make a friendly little trip to the Dallas area and attend a hella-awesome evening of entertainment, featuring a double feature of The Burning and Hell Night, with an in-theater appearance by Tom DeSimone, who directed the latter film. In the meantime, best of luck to all who enter the contest!

'FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS': IT'S A HIT, PEOPLE!

Approximately 130 attendees packed the auditorium at Denton, TX's Movie Tavern this past Friday evening, July 14th, for a rare midnight screening of Friday The 13th, Part VII that included an in-theatre appearance by the film's star Lar Park Lincoln. The gracious actress participated in a Q&A session with audience members before the movie and tirelessly signed autographs for fans, despite having an early morning commitment the next day. Yes, it's safe to say: this debut engagement of the Pit's Friday Night Frights was a hit!

FRIDAY VII star Lar Park Lincoln signs memorabilia for fans during FRIDAY NIGHT FRIGHTS.

Also in attendance were Pit Of Horror webmasters John Gray, who moderated the Q&A segment and also presented giveaway door prizes to some lucky audience members, and Petch Lucas, who drove nine hours for the event, as well as Paul Salfen of Dallas Movie Guide, who was instrumental with John in making it all happen. And although the theatre has the capability of projecting a DVD image onto their movie screens, at practically the eleventh hour John managed to secure a 35mm print of the film from a New Orleans warehouse (of all places!), so everyone got to experience the movie in all its pristine 1988 glory.

Many thanks to all who attended, bought tickets and ordered food and drink, which allowed the event to cover cost, ensuring that next month's August 11th double feature of The Burning and Hell Night will be a go as well! Kudos to Mark Walters, Ray Hunnicut, Justin Press, Jessica Torres and Casey Corpier for their support and assistance. And, of course, special thanks to Lar, John, Bernadette, Paul and everyone who worked hard to bring Friday Night Frights to life!

'THE LYCANTHROPE' SET TO HOWL IN DALLAS!

50/50 Films has announced a complimentary screening of their feisty new indie horror feature The Lycanthrope on Thursday, July 27th at the Angelika Film Center at Mockingbird Station in Dallas. The festivities will begin at 6:30 pm with an acoustic concert from a few of the artists on the all-original soundtrack (July 10th release date) including So Far Good, Eastwood, Kirk Tatom and Matt Thompson. The screening of the film will follow at 8:00 pm.

The Lycanthrope

The Lycanthrope centers upon a group of friends on a weekend getaway that goes terribly wrong due to the lunar activities of a creature bent on killing everything in its path - an unstoppable force that may be much closer than they realize. The film will then be entering into the film festival circuit and festival updates will be listed on the film’s official website. If you live in the Dallas area and are interested in attending, follow this link for further instructions.

In addition to the screening, The Pit also wishes to help promote The Lycanthrope by making its soundtrack album our latest trivia giveaway contest. We've been promised several copies of the CD to offer as a prize, so head on over to our Lycanthrope contest page and try your hand at the two trivia questions. Eligibility and winner specifications are explained there as well. Good luck to all who enter....let's keep indie horror--especially local indie horror!--alive and writhing. Whoops, I mean, alive and "thriving."

MICHAEL BAILEY SMITH TO RETURN IN 'HILLS' SEQUEL!

Michael Bailey Smith Remember where you read it first! The Pit has learned that Michael Bailey Smith will return in the sequel to The Hills Have Eyes, production details of which are sketchy at this time. Those wondering just how his 'Pluto' character might still be kicking after the events in Hills need not furrow their brows--word is that he will be playing an all-new character! Our source informs us that Smith will appear as the new leader of the surviving mutants, presumably filling the void left by the 'Jupiter' character.

We're all over this, and the minute we find out more, so will you.
