FIRST NEWS ON CREEPSHOW 3!
Creepshow 3, the third installment to the George Romero/Stephen King original, just completed principal photography on the backlot of Universal Studios. The film is based on the format of the orginal, featuring five creepy new stories to add to the already classic anthology.
The film is being produced by CreepyFilms and is directed by Ana Clavell and James Dudelson, who is also slated to produce the upcoming big budget Day Of The Dead remake with Emmett/Furla Films, producers of the recent Amityville Horror and Wicker Man remakes.

“Sin-Jin Smyth represents the kind of damage we like
to do! This is what makin’ an impact is all about!”
THE PIT has received advanced word that REGGIE
BANNISTER (Phantasm, Bubba Ho-Tep) is in talks to join
the cast of SIN-JIN SMYTH. Although there is no word
on what role Reggie will take on, The Pit has learned
that studio based SNAP KICK PRODUCTIONS INC. has made
a move towards an agreement with Bannister who, is a
fitting choice to join the platoon of ‘bullet proof
players’ -- as director Ethan Dettenmaier likes to refer to
his cast -- mobilizing for the film…
Although most of the story is TOP SECRET, a source
close to both camps did say that “This script (SIN-JIN
SMYTH) represents the kind of damage we like to do!
This is what makin’ an impact is all about! Bannister
is perfect to line up and charge it with those guys
cause he’s made out of steel, just like the rest of
‘em!”
Although Dettenmaier couldn’t be reached for comment
is it well known that he has a high respect for
Bannister and his work. With Bannister on board, along
with Richard Tyson (Black Hawk Down, Kindergarten Cop,
There's Something About Mary), Jason Hildebrandt (Black Hawk
Down), Lee Ving (Decline of Western Civilization,
Clue, Black Moon Rising) and Jacqueline Moore (of the
WWE) plus the rumor of Jonathan Davis of KORN this is
shaping up to be one HELL of a cast!

JONATHAN DAVIS of the metal band KORN in talks to join the cast of SIN-JIN SMYTH!
From the rumour mill...
An undisclosed source says that: ‘READING THE SCRIPT OF SIN-JIN SMYTH IS LIKE HAVING STEEL DINOSAUR TEETH TAKE A BITE OUT OF YOU! IT’S UNLIKE ANYTHING I’VE EVER READ!’
An undisclosed source close to the band has confirmed rumors that JONATHAN DAVIS of the metal band KORN is in talks to join the cast of next year’s much anticipated SIN-JIN SMYTH!
The script for SIN-JIN SMYTH (written by Ethan Dettenmaier and currently being circulated with dummy pages in it) which ‘is widely considered to be one of the industry’s most original,’ is centered around a midnight prisoner transfer (moments after a tornado warning) of a man with no past and no identity and is set against a Halloween legend of midnight appearance of the Devil in a quiet, little Kansas cemetery…
“Reading the script of Sin-jin Smyth is like having steel dinosaur teeth take a bit out of you! It is unlike anything I’ve ever read and my hat’s off to this writer for developing a new and pretty sinister story,” continued our inside source. “It really has a chilling feeling to it!”
There is no word on what Jonathan Davis will be playing but already onboard are Richard Tyson and Jason Hildebrandt (both of Black Hawk Down) Lee Ving (Of the punk band Fear) and members of the WWF.

GOLDHILL ENTERTAINMENT TRIPPLE HORROR HEADER: GHOULS, KILLER PUPPETS AND ONE PSYCHO KILLER!
Camarillo, CA (June 13, 2005)—Goldhil Entertainment will street three new-to-DVD horror/thriller titles for Halloween sell through. Decadent Evil Streets June 28, 2005, When Puppets and Dolls Attack July, 12, 2005 and Intruder, August 9, 2005.
From renowned Producer/Director Charles Band (Ghoulies, Puppet Master) whose films have been scaring audiences silly for more than 30 years, comes two new horrifically good films, Decadent Evil and When Puppets and Dolls Attack. Also coming to DVD for the first time since it’s 1988 film release, Charles Band’s Intruder.
Decadent Evil
Imprisoned in a small bird cage, Marvin is a nasty, horny Homunculus—part human, part reptile—who stands a humiliating 12 inches tall. At one time, Marvin was completely human, but when his vengeful, 100-year-old vampire mistress, Morella, learned of his affair with another woman, she turned him into a Homunculus. From the inside of his cage at the “Meat Market,” a decadent strip club on the outskirts of town, Marvin watches as the male clientele unknowingly fall victim to Morella’s blood thirsty tendencies in her bid to become the most powerful vampiress of all. Condemned to the birdcage for eternity, Marvin suffers the added torture of hundreds of years worth of lustful, sexual frustration…until the day he gets out.
When Puppets and Dolls Attack
Cuddly can be deadly! In this compilation of bizarre movie clips, viewers are treated to over three hours of classic kill footage from their favorite films about the most rampaging puppets and dolls. Fans of this genre will revel in memorable kills from such horror classics as: Puppet Master, Demonic Toys, Dollman vs. Demonic Toys, Ragdoll, and Blood Dolls. Contributing directors include: Charles Band, David Schmoeller (“Renegade”), Jeff Burr (Leatherface: The Chainsaw Massacre) and Peter Manoogian (Seedpeople).
Intruder
A local supermarket proprietor disappoints his staff when he announces the store has been sold. Dealing with acute melancholy brought on by the sudden announcement, the workers close down each department for the last time. Until they reach the butcher shop where an escaped convict is preparing a special cut of meat—not prepared by the employees, but from the employees. Written and directed by Scott Spiegel (writer of From Dusk ‘Till Dawn 2, Evil Dead 2), Intruder co-stars Bruce Campbell (producer of Evil Dead, Army of Darkness) and Sam Raimi (Producer of Boogeyman, The Grudge).

'BLOOD DEEP AIN'T YOUR AVERAGE SLASHER FLICK'
The Pit recieved this press release...
LONG BEACH, CA—It’s official!—Dead Horse Productions will premiere their first feature-length film, BLOOD DEEP, Opening Night at Chicago’s Indiefest 2005, a festival venue for independently produced feature films and shorts. Accurately depicted by Moviesonline as “Halloween meets Stand By Me,” this will be a world premiere for the film that Writer/Director, Todd Kniss, hopes audiences will embrace for it’s deliberate pacing, and clever reveals.
Sponsored by OfficeMax, Le Meridien Chicago, EatZi's, Discmakers, Cyclone Productions, IndieWIRE, Bexel, Ticketweb, Inktip, Indieclub.com, and others, Indiefest Chicago is a burgeoning new festival for creative writers and directors of fun and innovative films. This year’s 2005 festival will included fifty films from ten around the world, including forty-nine Chicago premieres and 17 world premieres.
BLOOD DEEP will be Dead Horse Production's premiere feature length thriller about a reunion of childhood friends that turns deadly when one of the guests unwittingly admits to murder. Not a gore-fest, but rather a thriller with elements of horror, Kniss has created a unique film that can’t be categorized—one part campfire story, one part thriller and one part horror. BLOOD DEEP is careful to introduce the viewer to the danger and the mystery within without revealing any secrets prematurely. Kniss steps back from an all out blood bath to deliver a unique thriller with multidimensional characters, and sweeping cinematography that are akin to the styles of some of his favorite filmmakers today to create what is virtually a new style or genre of filmmaking.

Schow talks Chainsaw Prequel:
David J. Schow, scribe of New Line’s TEXAS CHAINSAW
MASSACRE prequel, tells Fango that Lukas Ettlin,
director of photography of Stefan Avalos’ THE GHOSTS
OF EDENDALE, will serve as DP on the Jonathan
(DARKNESS FALLS) Liebesman-directed saw flick. The
production is slated to go before the cameras in Texas
by September. In regards to the casting rumors
concerning Leatherface, an actor has not yet been
decided upon, although Schow confirms what we first
reported: that R.A. (LEATHERFACE: TEXAS CHAINSAW
MASSACRE III) Mihailoff’s name has been brought up. In
regard to that possibility, Schow states, “No one has
ever played Leatherface twice! It would set a
precedent.”
In further news, the writer reveals that director
Larry (IT’S ALIVE) Cohen has been tapped to direct
Schow’s script “Pick Me Up” for Showtime’s MASTERS OF
HORROR series. Casting is currently underway, with
Cohen to commence principal photography late this
month in Vancouver.

‘Chaos’ surfaces:
The controversial horror film “CHAOS”, one of the most
brutal displays of violence ever to touch celluloid,
will shock audiences on August 16th when it opens at
the Laemmle Fairfax in West Hollywood. Dinsdale
Releasing will also open “CHAOS” in Chicago and New
York.
Inspired by the terror film “Last House on the Left”
and writer/director David DeFalco created the
character, “Chaos”(Kevin Gage), to be a villain that
surpasses all evil of any horror movie.
Two college friends, “Angelica” (Chantal DeGroat) and
“Emily” (Maya Barovich), make a bad decision at an
outdoor rave party. Believing the man they met was
taking them to get Ecstasy, they followed him into the
woods. Instead of Ecstasy they met “Chaos”…and their
night of horror began.
Spiraling into quivering terror the girls are chased,
tormented, tortured and brutally murdered. But it
doesn’t end there…
“I’m tired of commercialized, sanitized studio horror
flicks,” expresses writer/director David DeFalco. “The
murders of the two young girls in CHAOS are based on
real killings that I researched, I wanted to find the
most brutal and shocking killings that really happened
in order to try and open people’s eyes about what is
really going on out there. I’m showing you the stuff
the edit from the news.”
DeFalco (aka: “The Demon”) had a passion for the
horror genre at an early age, shooting 8mm horror
movies as a kid. Pursuing his passion, in 1997 David
started Dominion Entertainment – a company that
produces and distributes horror films on DVD. Under
this company banner, DeFalco successfully released
such films as “Gang Land”, “Redemption”, “Point Doom”
and “Back Lot Murders”. “CHAOS” will be David
DeFalco’s premiere theatrical release.
“CHAOS” stars Kevin Gage, Stephen Wozniak, Sage
Stallone (son of Sylvester Stallone), Kelly K.C.
Quann, Chantal DeGroat and Maya Barovich.
Kevin Gage who plays “Chaos” in the film, is currently
serving a 41 month prison term for growing medical
Marijuana. A strong advocate of Proposition 215, Kevin
began growing Marijuana after his sister was diagnosed
with Cancer and his brother diagnosed with Multiple
Sclerosis. Gage will be released in time for the
premiere of “CHAOS”.
“CHAOS” is a disturbing film that will terrify, shock
and haunt people, but it’s supposed to. “The biggest
compliment I get from people that have seen CHAOS, is
that they will never forget the movie as long as they
live,” states David DeFalco. Watch this space for a
review coming real soon.
EXCLUSIVE SIN-JIN SMYTH INTERVIEW!
Check out the interview John Gray carried out with Ethan.
Stay tuned.
Source: Ethan Dettenmaier - www.sin-jinsmyth.com
THE PIT interviews genre fave KEN FOREE!
Maverick webmaster John Gray has interviewed the great Ken Foree, best known as protagonist Peter from the original Dawn Of The Dead and who further went on to appear in such horror classics as From Beyond and Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3. With some great insights into Mr. Foree's role in the upcoming The Devil's Rejects, this interview makes some mighty fine reading!
Read it here.
Everybody is talking about it ... or at least they should be!
Sin-Jin Smyth is the new movie by Ethan Dettenmaier, writer turned director, which is due for
a June 2006 release starring Richard Tyson (Black Hawk Down, Kindergarten Cop) and Jason Hildebrandt (Black Hawk Down, The Dinner Party).
Ethan speaks to www.sffworld.com in an exclusive interview...
The upcoming film SIN-JIN SMYTH (www.sin-jinsmyth.com) starts with the TITLE: EVERY HALLOWEEN at MIDNIGHT, The Devil simultaneously appears in two places,…the high plains of India and…a quiet cemetery in Kansas.
Los Angeles based script doctor turned director, Ethan Dettenmaier (this will be his first feature although he is currently directing a TV show in Las Vegas, Nevada) is with us from the SIN-JIN SMYTH Production Offices located on the Warner Hollywood Lot in sunny Hollywood California…
Ethan: Hello Dag, I’m a big fan of your work so I’m stoked to talk with you…
Dag: Tell us about the film?
Ethan: SIN-JIN SMYTH is about two Federal Marshals who report to a small town (Moments after a tornado warning) to transport a prisoner with no identity. He is known simply as…Sin-jin Smyth!
Dag: What makes it stand out compared to other ‘Hollywood’ movies?
Ethan: Even though we are based on the Warner Hollywood Lot this is far from a Hollywood movie where you have a bunch of young TV stars waiting around to get killed and some Paris Hilton type over powers an insane maniac to save herself in the end…
We don’t have recycled surprises that seem vaguely familiar when you see it…Right now I have two hundred story panels where the film is mapped out shot-by-shot and we’re constantly trying to make it more dark and inventive!!!
Dag: Can you compare it to anything?
Ethan: No, but it was influenced by the (original) Exorcist, The Omen, The Thing, early work of John Carpenter, Ridley Scott, Tobe Hooper, James Whale.
Dag: How has the process of putting the film together from cast, crew and story been?
Ethan: Long, because I refused to start production until we had the best possible script. If it wasn’t right on the page, it wasn’t right to make and I didn’t want to figure everything out on the fly. I like to plan every detail and put time with the actors and designers…
I felt that my first draft (written over a period of just a few days) wasn’t strong enough. I loved the concept but the actual execution from a page by page stand point wasn’t as strong as it could have been and I hold my work (and the work of the production team) to the highest possible standard. I’m very hard on myself where an audience is involved because I’ve been ripped off at the box office so many times, I didn’t want to do it to anyone else.
Dag: Ripped off?
Ethan: Yes, I paid to see Phantom Menace. And most recently I asked for my money back half way through the new Amityville Horror re-make. Can you believe they did THAT to THAT BOOK?
