Born October 5th, 1919 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire (England, UK), Pleasance was initially a conscientious objector during World War II, but later changed his mind and joined the British Royal Air Force. His aircraft was shot down and he was taken as a prisoner of war, where he was held captive by the Nazis until his release in 1945.

With over 190 films to his credit, he is most remembered for his role as the obsessed physiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis is the 1978 classic Halloween. When Moustapha Akkad asked Donald Pleasence how many more "Halloween" films he was planning to make, Donald replied "I stop at twenty-two". Donald Pleasance sadly died on February 2nd, 1995 in St. Paul de Vence, France before he was able to complete Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers - Cause of death: Complications from heart valve replacement surgery.
