HOSTEL
Stephen King once said, "I have seen the future of horror, and his name is Clive Barker". Well, I have seen the new future of horror and his name is Eli Roth... time to hand over the crown Clive. Eli Roth's Hostel is the most frightening and disturbing film I Have ever seen. Don't take that lightly either. Hostel begins with three backpackers heading to a Slovakian city that promises to meet their hedonistic expectations, with no idea of the hell that awaits them. Seriously, what happens in this film is almost unspeakable...
The terrifying film written and directed by Eli Roth, comes fresh off his tremendous success with Cabin Fever and packs in one serious punch. Roth brings us a brilliant follow up, but does not try to repeat the parade of far out shocks, F/X and in-jokes that...

CREEP (2004)
Christopher Smith's chiller 'Creep' just arrived at my doorstep and the Pit of course has all the gory details for you. The story opens on a cute socialite named Kate (Franka Potente) who hears her idol George Clooney is in town. To escape the closed station, Kate heads into the unknown labyrinth of tunnels beneath the city's street only to find that someone, or something is stalking her every move. Hungry for blood.
Apart from Franka Potente's role, the film had very little impact... this is problem #1, but we will get to #2 in a minute. The positives you ask? Well

CURSE OF THE FORTY NINER
Directed by John Carl Buechler (Friday the 13th Part VII) I had reasonably high hopes for this movie. Now lets face it, the New Blood is hardly Oscar material, but in comparsion well...
I should have known better.
It was absolutely terrible. Infact it was so bad that it was extremely entertaining. The cheese was overwhelming. I was officially in stiches, perhaps knots of laughter. It got to the stage where I could bearly breathe properly, you know what I mean.
Critically speaking, some of the direction was terrible. Much of the camera work revealing the puny size of the production with some unnecessary (and bad) dialogue in the script to boot.

THE BROOD
Frank Carveth's wife Nola has been in the care of Dr Raskin for quite some time, undergoing controversial psychotherapy.
Already suspicious of Raskin and his methods, Frank fears for his daughter's wellbeing when after picking Candice up from visiting her mother, he notices bruises and scrapes all over her body while bathing her.
He thus sets out to discover exactly what is going on while patients are in Raskin's care. He comes closer to solving the puzzle when he stumbles across one of the killers who has just murdered his father in law. Conveniently the pint sized murderer keels over and dies in the shower room. As the viewer we have now learned...
