In the blistering finale of the movie Tommy Jarvis gets a boulder and chain and takes a boat out into the middle of Crystal Lake in order to drown Jason (by looping the chain around Jason's neck with the boulder attached). However Tommy himself could lift the boulder without the aid of water, yet Jason finds the boulder heavy enough to drown him even though the boulder would lose half it's weight submerged under water.
