Welcome, A Nightmare On Elm Street is probably the most memorable and reckoned slasher franchise of them all. The creation of the extremely talented Wes Craven, the Elm Street movies are also some of the most influencial and instrumental the genre has ever produced. Atleast as far as mainstream or 'American' horror fare is concerned. The whole concept of this horror franchise had such a huge impact on all exposed to it and even to this day it never ceases to amaze how imaginative, unique, fresh and hard hitting the original Elm Street is. You don't forget about Freddy, and everybody knows the name and the knives for fingers...
